Using the Show Don’t Tell Function

One way to strengthen your novel, memoir, or screenplay is by limiting unnecessary exposition. This is called the “show, don’t tell” rule of fiction and memoirs. To rewrite a sentence, phrase, paragraph, or a series of sentences/paragraphs and limit exposition, you can use Squibler’s show-don’t-tell function.

First, highlight the section you want to revise:

You will see the white toolbar appear on your text. Click the lightning bolt icon to access the pull-down menu. From there, scroll to Show Don’t Tell and click on the phrase. This will automatically rewrite the text you have highlighted:

You can see how the AI has revised the writing by reading the text in the chat box to the right of your document.
