How we make money, who we recommend, and how affiliate relationships do and don't influence our content.
Squibler publishes guides, reviews, and comparisons to help writers choose the right tools, courses, and resources for their work. Every month, thousands of writers visit our Learning Center to make better decisions about their craft, their workflows, and their publishing journey.
What We Look For
When we recommend a tool or resource, we look for products that are:
- Genuinely useful for writers working on books, novels, screenplays, or other long-form projects.
- Well-designed, with a user experience that respects your time and attention.
- Practical for real writing workflows, not just impressive in a demo.
- Transparent about their pricing, features, and limitations.
Our goal is to give you clear, direct guidance so you can make better decisions faster. We would rather be honest and opinionated than vague and safe.
What You Will Not Find Here
You will not find reviews that end with "just pick whatever works best for you" without actually telling you what we think works best and why.
We have noticed that many review sites avoid strong opinions because they do not want to upset affiliate partners or because their affiliate agreements discourage negative commentary. That creates watered-down content that does not actually help writers make decisions.
We also know that tool companies often rank themselves first in their own "best tools" lists. We are not interested in that kind of content. If we review a category that includes our own product, we hold Squibler to the same standard as everything else and are transparent about that relationship.
How We Make Money
We built Squibler's Learning Center to be free, honest, and practical. Here is how we sustain that work:
Squibler Subscriptions
Our primary revenue comes from Squibler's subscription plans. The writing platform itself funds the majority of our operations, which means our editorial content does not need to generate revenue to justify its existence.
Affiliate Links
Some tools we recommend offer affiliate programs. If you purchase through one of our links, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. Not every tool we recommend has an affiliate program, and we never rank tools based on commission rates or payouts.
When possible, we negotiate discounts for our readers.
Sponsorships
If content is sponsored, it will be clearly labeled as such. If it is not labeled, it is not sponsored. We do not accept payment for favorable reviews, and sponsored content does not influence our editorial opinions or rankings.
Our Editorial Independence
Affiliate relationships do not determine what we recommend. Our editorial team evaluates tools and resources independently, and recommendations are based on our honest assessment of what is most useful for writers.
We recommend products we have used, tested, or thoroughly researched. If a product has an affiliate program, that is a bonus, not a reason for the recommendation. If a product does not have an affiliate program, we still recommend it when we believe it is the best option.
A Note About Our Own Product
Squibler is a writing tool, and we also publish content about writing tools. We believe the best way to handle that overlap is with transparency.
When we write about Squibler, we are upfront about the fact that it is our product. We describe what it does well, where it has limitations, and who it is best suited for. We do not pretend to be a neutral third party when reviewing our own platform.
